We are currently seeking a bright, experienced Human Resources (HR) Generalist with a strong background in HR to provide guidance and support to our growing construction workforce. The HR Generalist will be a champion of AA Asphalting's culture and values, partnering with our employees and managers to help them build, nurture, and cultivate their teams. The HR Generalist is responsible for policy and procedure development, training, employee relations, benefits, and performance evaluation management, primarily supporting Maltby, Woodinville, and Issaquah.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Develops and implements personnel policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; maintains employee handbook, and ensures proper distribution of employee handbook updates.
- Oversees employee relations, including advising in disciplinary actions, terminations and conducting investigations. Provides support and guidance to management in appropriate resolution of complex issues.
- Identifies training needs, develops training programs, and manages or delivers trainings to meet organizational current and future needs.
- Serves as a trusted advisor and builds valued relationships with teams, from employees to leadership.
- Conducts onboarding with new hires welcoming new employees to the organization. Coordinates with members of multiple departments to schedule all areas of onboarding (Safety Orientation, Field Tour, Flagger Class, etc.)
- Processes new hire information in HRIS and assists employees with the functionality and use of the HRIS.
- Provides support to employees in various Human Resources related topics such as policy interpretation, paid time off usage, compensation, benefits, and resolves any issues that may arise.
- Provides recruitment support by conducting interviews, background checks and employment verifications, job fairs, and maintaining the company's applicant tracking system.
- Participates in compensation reviews and conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rates.
- Assists with the administration of the organization's healthcare plans and retirement plan, including meeting with employees, processing enrollments, distributing insurance packets, answering benefit questions and COBRA administration.
- Manages the performance review process with managers; collects and compiles completed reviews; and maintains records.
- Creates learning and development programs that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Assists the Human Resources Department with audits for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide support to Human Resources and Safety departments.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions.
- Regularly visits company locations providing support, effective communication, training, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related degree; or 3+ year's related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to develop effective employee communication materials and deliver effective training presentations.
- Commitment to protect confidential and sensitive employee and business information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn and understand applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
