Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Asphalt Paving Foreman/Operator to lead and oversee asphalt paving projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a paving crew, ensuring safety and quality standards, operating paving equipment, and maintaining project schedules. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage asphalt paving crews, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project schedules.
- Operate paving equipment, including pavers, rollers, and other machinery, to ensure proper application and compaction of asphalt.
- Conduct pre-construction planning, including equipment and material allocation, site preparation, and coordination with project managers.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of asphalt placement, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and ensure the crew complies with OSHA and company safety guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to paving operations, equipment, or materials.
- Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, timekeeping, and material usage.
- Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Train and mentor crew members, promoting skill development and teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 2 years in a foreman or supervisory role.
- Proficient in operating asphalt paving equipment and understanding of paving techniques.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, mix designs, and compaction processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and workplace safety practices.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with GPS-controlled paving systems.
- Knowledge of maintenance and minor repairs for paving equipment.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
