Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Perform Routine Maintenance
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance on tractor-trailers, including inspections, tire rotations, and oil changes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to ensure prompt and effective repairs.
Repair and Overhaul:
- Execute complex repairs and overhauls on diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other components of tractor-trailers.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards during all repair processes.
- fabrication tasks as needed to address structural issues or damage to tractor-trailer components.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship to ensure the safety and longevity of repaired components.
Diagnostic Testing:
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve electronic and computerized system malfunctions in tractor-trailers.
- Interpret diagnostic reports and collaborate with team members to implement effective solutions.
Maintain Records:
- Keep detailed and accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, hours worked, and completed tasks.
- Provide feedback on equipment conditions and make recommendations for improvements.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements to enhance maintenance practices.
Requirements:
Successful candidates for this role
Proven Experience: 2-3 years of proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic II or III with a focus on tractor-trailers.
Certification: preferred but not required based on experience -Certification from a recognized technical school or equivalent work experience.**
Diagnostic Skills: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify and address mechanical issues.
Technical Proficiency: Using diagnostic tools and equipment to efficiently perform maintenance.
Welding and Fabrication: Proficiency in welding and fabrication for structural repairs is preferred but not mandatory.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for precise record-keeping.
