Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry. The nature of the work is primarily within the solar energy industry. An aptitude for continuous learning and training is important for the success of this role. Manufacturers of solar energy equipment regularly update, modify, and release new product that may require changing previous installation techniques and specifications.
Those with extensive solar energy installation experience are encouraged to apply; whether you have previously completed an electrical apprenticeship, or not.
Due to the nature of the projects, prevailing wages may be available on some job sites. Travel is also semi-frequent to frequent. Our crews may spend an estimated 50% of their time on the road. Crews return every weekend and typically work four, 10-hour days (Mon-Thurs). Travel is scheduled and decided on a job by job basis.
Responsibilities:
Proceeds with work from plans and specifications, supervising small projects and running small crews, has knowledge of all electrical equipment and major tools. Understands the scope of drawings and demonstrates ability to supervise others in their work performance.
a) Directs and works with journeyman and helpers
b) Plans work – responsible for materials and tools
c) Install all work effectively
d) Demonstrates knowledge of all tools and equipment
e) Troubleshoot all electric systems
f) Monitors progress of work
g) Possess skills of lower E-Rating Job Title (J-2, J-3, E-4, E-3, E-2, E-1)
h) Attend continuing education classes
i) Current State of Ohio Fire Alarm License preferred
j) Must have an OSHA 30 Certification
k) Have self motivation
Position Requirements:
a) Must be able to pass EEI background check(s)
b) Must be fluent in the English language
c) 18 years of age or older
d) Must have reliable transportation to and from work
e) Must have valid Driver’s License.
f) High School graduate, holder of G.E.D. or equivalent training
g) Must have a minimum of six years’ electrical experience
Working Conditions:
a) Requires working in all environmental elements
b) Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns)
c) Employee to have required personal tools with them at all times (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs.)
d) Be able to work from all types of ladders
e) Perform work at various heights, up to 90’ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas
f) Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, crawl spaces, attics, etc.)
g) Wear personal protective equipment in compliance with EEI Company Safety Policy
h) Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
i) Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required and night shifts
Skills:
a) Be able to positively identify colors
b) Comprehends reading and drawing blueprints and schematics of same
c) Bend conduit by hand with hand benders
d) Must use all power hand tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches
e) Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
f) Operate equipment, trenchers, lift trucks, aerial lift, etc. in a safe manner
g) Practices and comprehends safe work procedures as outlined in EEI Safety Policy, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy
h) Operates two (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammers drills, compression tools, and jack hammers
i) Operate company trucks if necessary
j) Read and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blueprints and written instructions
k) Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered)
l) Work energized circuits and equipment with company management approval as outlined in EEI Safety Policy
m) Supervise assigned jobsite employees to complete project
Physical Function:
a) Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach over head
b) Lift 50 pounds unassisted
c) Constantly moving on your feet
d) Climb ladders (all types)
e) Completing overhead work for full day assignments
f) Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladders or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.
g) Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
h) Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete their assigned tasks
