American Asphalt Paving Co., a local road and site construction company located in Shavertown, PA, is seeking an experienced MILLING FOREMEN for the 2024 Construction Season.
We are seeking ambitious, self-starter with high energy levels along with excellent supervisory and strong leadership skills. A Milling Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day operation of their specific milling crew. The Foreman will report directly to the Construction Superintendent(s) and meet with them daily to review scheduled projects.
- MILLING FOREMAN candidates must possess strong knowledge in all aspects of milling with an emphasis on production efficiencies and quality as well as all preparation in anticipation of the paving crews that follow; have a solid understanding and experience in reading plans and specifications; have excellent math skills; be familiar with ordering and scheduling trucks; and have a thorough knowledge of maintaining and operations of milling equipment.
Responsibilities:
- The Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and coordinating the daily work activities, job site organization, reading of plans, determine layout placement, and monitor quality control. The foreman will verify measurements, quantities, grades, material and trucking requirements to ensure compliance with the contract documents and job sheets.
- Organize job site goals, timelines, and meet production budgets. Read and relay job information from the plans, work orders, and contracts to other crew members.
- Prepare daily electronic timecards and field diaries.
- The Foreman may be required to perform other labor/operator related tasks as necessary in assisting crew with job completion.
- Foremen are responsible for the safety of their crew and conducting daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) with the crews that address tasks and safety issues and conditions that may be of concern on particular projects or are of inherent safety issues with the particular work being performed.
Required Skills:
- The Foreman will have 3-years prior experience supervising a crew in a supervisor or foreman capacity; have strong team leadership skills, and possess a good attitude toward co-workers, supervision and customers.
- The successful candidate will have 3 years’ experience working in road construction on highway, municipal, private, and PennDOT work.
- OSHA-10 certification and CDL-A preferred.
- Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Job is a preferred, but not necessary.
- Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, may be required as needed.
