We are looking for an Equipment Manager for our Bridgeton, MO office to oversee our equipment inventory and maintenance program. This role will be responsible for ensuring that our equipment is in good working condition and that it meets our safety standards. The Equipment Manager will also manage the purchasing, tracking, and maintenance of all equipment and create and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help to improve, monitor, and drive our safety culture and programs.
- Provide management and support for our mechanics, shop space, and equipment yard.
- Track monthly equipment costs related to fleet operations and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Coordinate with all Byrne & Jones divisions regarding equipment sharing, equipment transfers, and preparing for future equipment purchases.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles and heavy equipment, including pavers, rollers, dump trucks, excavators, dozers, etc.
- Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of all fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in safe and operational condition.
- Work closely with mechanics and external maintenance providers to ensure timely repairs and minimal downtime.
- Develop and maintain an equipment cleaning process to ensure all equipment and trucks are cleaned and inspected before they leave the shop.
- Develop and manage an equipment and truck maintenance system – this includes creating a maintenance schedule, managing work orders, and organizing and maintaining vehicle files.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle and equipment inspections, licenses, and certifications.
- Attend weekly operations meetings to inform the operations team of equipment, shop, and personnel issues.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions for the purchase or lease of equipment and vehicles.
- Ensure that all procurement activities comply with legal requirements and company policies, and manage risks associated with vehicle acquisitions.
- Assist with onboarding and coaching of new field employees and mechanics.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet equipment management, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment used in asphalt paving and construction.
- Leadership skills and strong organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Familiarity with safety and compliance regulations related to construction equipment.
